Caigan has worked at West Virginia University for the past 13 years as a staff writer. A number of her articles have been reprinted in a variety of water and wastewater publications and at various universities and organizations, including George Mason University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Prior to the university, she had worked for Joy Manufacturing Company and for Westinghouse Credit Corporation as a technical writer. Caigan enjoys community service work and volunteers for a variety of organizations.

Caigan’s daughter is a student at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh as well as being employed as an analyst for Ricoh Americas Corporation. Her son, Mike, is a sophmore at West Virginia University majoring in political science and economics.
