Biographical Sketch:  Carlos R. Azzoni is a full professor of Economics at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was Department Chairman (Economics), Associate Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Administration and Accounting (up to July 2010). He is currently the Distinguished Visiting Professor of the Lemann Institute for Brazilian Studies at the University of Illinois. He was Visiting Professor at Cornell University and Ohio State University. He holds Master and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Sao Paulo. His area of research is regional growth and development, including regional aspects of climate change. He has chaired the Regional Planning Division of the State of Sao Paulo Secretary of Planning. He has published 7 books (Portuguese) and more than 60 scientific papers, both in Brazilian and international refereed academic journals.He has participated in over 120 international conferences in Economics and Regional Science. He was the founder of the Brazilian Section of the Regional Science Association International and is currently a member of the Scientific Council of that organization. He has served on the Council of the Regional Science Association International. He has worked as consultant for many Brazilian and international organizations in both the private and public sectors.
