This National Science Foundation funded research develops TEEE Chain modeling framework to analyze technology, energy, environment, and the economy in two important energy rich regions–West Virginia and Shanxi Province, China. The transition to a sustainable clean energy future is one of the greatest challenges of this new century and major economies are competing to dominate the emerging energy economy. This research provides a comprehensive set of analytical tools for understanding the national and global consequences of interactions among TEEE chain components and establishes an engineering-based economic framework for analyzing sustainable development in Energy Rich Regions.
